    Meet Amy Jacobs

Within a perspective which honors that each person is unique, worthy of dignity and respect, there is a need to be understood within one’s individual life and experiences. I find that we all naturally seek to move towards growth and evolvement, towards meaning and purpose, yet sometimes we may struggle in seeking and understanding this in the various life paths we may be on. Much of my professional walk has focused on fostering growth in the lives of many children and youth.

As the cornerstone to all development begins with the foundation of relationships, I embrace this in my work by honoring the importance of developing a trusting therapeutic relationship with all my clients. I consider this an essential step in being able to discover and grow in a healthy life journey. In life, when struggles and difficulties are experienced, it is helpful to be encouraged, to feel understood, accepted and valued. My purpose, and therapeutic style, is to balance this encouragement and validation with gentle challenges to help you learn and grow in ways towards healthy development. It is my hope that in the therapeutic process you may experience joy and contentment in the path you are on.

Appreciating the neurodevelopment of children and relationship-based perspectives, I find that through connections and a sense of safety, one can begin to learn healthy skills for life that include self-regulation, emotional-regulation, problem solving, relationship building and positive self-regard. I hold a special interest in an array of childhood related difficulties, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, adjustment and relationship issues, and developmental concerns. Along with working with children, I also offer support for adolescents and adults.

Whether walking beside a child or adult in the journey, I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches that is shaped to the individual needs and determined through a collaborative process. These approaches may include cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, experiential therapy, family therapy and hypnotherapy. With a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, I am a State of Kansas Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and I have been in practice over the past three decades.

I am married with two grown children and am celebrating one of the true joys in life, being a grandparent!
